The fun doesn’t end when summer comes to a close and the Torch Lake area is already in full swing with their fall events. Torch Lake area is beautiful year-round and especially with the fall colors. Take a walk on Torch Bay Nature Preserve or take a boat ride around the lake from the public boat access at Torch Lake Township Park to experience the brilliant colors of the season. With a mix of historical museums, fall festivals, and gorgeous fall colors, there is something for the whole family.
The fall events are just beginning as September ends, October 3rd and 10th is Friske Orchard’s Apple Festival along with the beginning of their Fall Fun Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Fall Fun Saturday’s include apple picking, tractor-drawn wagon rides, pumpkin picking, barnyard petting zoo, orchard play land and their award-winning apple cider. Venture to Kewadin for the free Fall Family Fun Fest on October 10th at Pine Hill Nursery & Landscaping for games, food, apple cider and fun for the entire family.
After picking apples, eating donuts and enjoying the fall colors, head over to Alden for Tuesday night Mah Jong and Bingo. Check out Alden Depot Park and Museum to experience the rich history inside of the tiny town located on the beautiful Torch Lake shores. Enjoy a bowl of chili at Alden’s Chili Cook-Off and Silent Auction on October 25th at the Gym Community Center.
The last few weeks of October not only bring brilliant fall colors, but Halloween happenings. The Grass River Natural Area in Elk Rapids is holding their Autumn Fest on October 17th where you can take a haunted hike and kids can make an autumn light catcher, bird feeder and much more. Visit local farms for apples, wagon rides and fall fun at the local farms, including King Orchards with locations in Kewadin and Central Lake, Friske Orchards in Ellsworth, and Rennie Orchards to in Elk Rapids. Join the South Torch Lake Fire Fighters Association as they host their Annual Halloween Party at Tennis Court Park around Halloween.
